NYC Three Times

#1

I had seen Central Park in so many movies and on so many tv shows growing up that I figured it would feel familiar by the time I actually got to nyc to see it. And I was right! It took all the way until my late 20s but I eventually got to beautiful Manhattan to see all of its glory in 2016. Things I recognized first were the miniature lake where people sail their miniature sailboats (Stuart Little, of course.), the Alice in Wonderland piece from Remember Me (above), and of course Central Park as a whole (There it is! That's Central Park!

All the brownstones caught my attention as I of course looked around for Carrie Bradshaw, or SJP. I may have gotten a liiittle claustrophobic because I wasn't used to not being able to see the sky. But, that's a concrete jungle for you. I stayed close to my travel buddy and eventually settled in to that feeling and pushed forward. It was very busy on the streets but my walk through the park is one I surely haven't forgotten. So busy that it was just a quick excursion before getting back on the highway up to Connecticut. I saw Trump Plaza defaced, talked brownstone real estate, and ate a $13 hot dog. I think I did Central Park.

Here's where I just take off and do my thing like I think only my kinda girl can. I wanted to see the new Lost City of Z movie and I wanted it now. So I bought tickets for NYFF54 and made it a day! 🔆 I was glad to see the movie early and there was some nice breezy walking through town. Back and forth to another screening became a little frazzled and I wished I hadn't worn the boots with heels, my tickets may have gotten left in the bathroom at the thought of seeing Robert Pattinson, but nyc was way cool for the whole outing.

Oh Broadway you got me. 1 train, 1 cab, my debit card and a Leonardo DiCaprio-esque baseball cap over my eyes. Manhattan. 💗 Getting around as quickly and easily as I did was a dream. Jimmy Fallon on the little tv in the cab made me less anxious about time. When I got to the Hudson to see 1984 starring Tom Sturridge and Olivia Wilde, I was 3 minutes late. I rushed in, light on my feet and was told my seat was just after where there were three empty seats from the aisle and where there was to be no one seated to my immediate right. With no distractions, my hat a little low and no one able to lean over and talk to me, I saw my first Broadway show. It was everything I thought it would be (with no vomiting reviews.) I was so happy to get to see the two leads in person for a performance that was just awe inspiring.

On the way back out onto the street I finally glanced upward and noticed that I was right next to Times Square. Girls on the street were talking about Tom Sturridge. I wondered if I could zip over to the square before jumping in a cab. Two destinations failed (An icecream stand and Starbucks with a long line) I lost the nerve and hailed a cab. There were ny cops everywhere watching me and ignoring me at the same time. Might have just been my idea of utter bliss. I ended up settling for a pretzel in Grand Central before starting back on the 1.5 hour ride to Philadelphia. Oh okay, man hat tan. 🙂

Thanks @vogue for the wonderful articles in your June issue on 1984 and the show's producer, Sonia Friedman, that inspired me to go see it! 🔆

Bonus: I drove straight to Brooklyn a fourth time
for Body By Brooklyn. Highly recommend! 🧖‍♀️

Goop Guides

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I really love Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle website Goop. I'm always sharing their tips and articles for some great build-your-knowledge reading. I've learned so much of my healthcare stuff from them in the past two years, and in a wide range of areas even. Something that I've particularly enjoyed from their site are their travel guides and itineraries. They've got over 40, and they're all so well detailed and provide everything you'd need to enjoy a traveling stay. I took a look back at them today and counted that I've read over 15 of them! They're that easy to get swept up in. 💫 So if you're traveling this spring or this summer, I would highly recommend taking the time to head over to goop.com (more in my Instagram stories), find your destination city's Guide, and dive right in! 🔆

As far as Goop guides that I've actually gotten to use, there's the Houston guide last Holiday season and the Denver guide last December for my birthday. Here's how I used them!

While visiting my brother, Nero, in "H" Town I found Houston's grand Galleria in The Houston Guide for all that last minute holiday shopping.

@versace

@dailygrill

Houston's Buffalo Bayou Park was a nice place to find a pretty and relaxing walk. #goopgo

The same month for my birthday I got the tip to check out Denver's Contemporary Art Museum thanks to goop's high recommendation of the running exhibition in their guide. 🔆 #goopgo

This weekend I plan to take Teuila walking at Denver's Washington Park (A #goopgo from The Denver Guide!) if the weather allows. Going to get her walking with her harness, and I think that will be the perfect wide open, pretty place to do so. Wish us luck. 🐶

Tag goop with #goopgo when you visit a destination from their guides! 🏖

Waiting

I'm waiting on the most gorgeous pictures right now from a shoot I did on Sunday with one of my new favorite photographers, Erin Sawyer 🔆🔆 But here's one as a sneak peek 》

Tap/Click

This is my new babygirl Teuila (Tay-wee-lah) There are a few different ways to pronounce it and none of them are wrong. I pretty much say it how it's spelled out above, which may be more traditional. Name meaning 》 flower of the Samoan ginger plant. 🌺 She's all of that and more. Totally in love! I adopted her from the cutest no-kill rescue based here in CO. Always recommend adopting not shopping when it comes to looking for a pet because they're all looking for your love and all need their forever homes 💙 With that said buy some jewelry! ⬇️ And make sure you're following me over on my Instagram: @bestdebbieever

Old 30GB iPod Playlist

I'm lifting you up
I'm letting you down
I'm dancing til' dawn
I'm fooling around
I'm not giving up
I'm making your love
This city's made us crazy and we must get out

--

I don't know what happened
Got people steady asking
How'd you go to sleep mad one day
The next wake up so happy?
Well love works like magic
And it's so true my mind can't grasp it
I'm just glad that I've got you in my life

I think about us (all day)
Dream about you (always)
Love ain't always
Complicated

I think about us (all day)
Dream about you (always)
Love ain't always
Complicated

If I'm loving it, don't take long
People speculating that it won't last long
But that just can't be true
'cause I've been loving you
Like you never knew that I could do
I will never let go, gotta hold on
'cause you done made me and
You a happy home

And I give all me to you, I do
Whatever you ask me to
'cause boy you're my
Biggest blessing
They can keep on asking
How'd I go to sleep mad one day
The next wake up so happy?
Well love works like magic
And it's so true my mind can't grasp it
I'm so glad that you made me your wife

I think about us (all day)
Dream about you (always)
Love ain't always
Complicated

I think about us (all day)
Dream about you (always)
Love ain't always
Complicated

Boy you make me feel so beautiful
And I ain't ever gonna let you go
People say this ain't how it's supposed to go
But I refuse to believe
'cause it happened to me

--

I wish I could change
I wish I could change
I wish I could stop
Saying the same old things
I wish I could be
Who you want me to be
I wish I could stop
Being the same old me
I wish I could lose
All of my blues
I wish I could stop
Putting my blues on you
I wish I could love
Like nobody loves
I wish that my goods
Outweighed my bads enough

Theres no way
Theres no way
Theres no way
I can get back that girl
Cause I'm too complicated
And she's not complicated
But I'm too complicated

--

Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else

I drove for miles and miles and wound up at your door
I've had you so many times but somehow I want more

I don't mind spending every day
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved

--

Maneater
make you work hard
make you spend hard
make you want all of her love

She's a Maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cards
make you fall, real hard in love

She's a Maneater
make you work hard
make you spend hard
make you want all of her love

She's a Maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cards
Wish you never ever met her at all

(baby please don't eat me up)
