Stuart: A Life Backwards

If you've honestly got an hour and a half to sit here, watch this movie. I love most indies because they all have their great messages and they're more relatable, but I really really loved this one for some reason. I guess it's a true story and it all really happened, but I wonder if the real guy this movie is based off of was like Tom Hardy. Meaning, I wonder if Tom really portrayed the guy to a tee or if this was all just Tom's humor, intelligence, and genuinely interesting loveability shining through.

He makes you want to love the guy, and makes you laugh. He makes you cry. He makes you feel pity and makes you feel removed from someone so damaged. Maybe Tom Hardy as an actor could easily become Stuart because he's had the same addictions and has a lot of his own issues (?) either way he should've won that BAFTA in 2008. I wish really bad...

Just ran across this after I finished typing and made myself smile ♥

"I love Stuart. I love him. I feel for him, his pain, d'you know what I mean? There's more pain in him than there is in me and there's a gratitude there in some ways, because I think, 'Well at least I'm not in as much pain as this poor guy' I don't want to make it sound sentimental, though. Alexander has written something that sings. I fell in love with the piece. I could hear the music of it.....
I had a lot in common with Stuart, with the exception of a couple of very serious experiences - specifically the child abuse he suffered, and the muscular dystrophy. Everything else I have full comprehension of. I could relate to the drugs and his attitude at points, too -- d'you know what I mean? There were a lot of similarities between us. I thought 'Oh, oh, oh, I can bring something to this!' It came from my own baggage....
Stuart was the best role I've ever had -- probably ever will have."
